What is the cost for a Sullivan's Cattery kitten? The
expense to keep the number of cats that we have in our breeding program, our health screening expenses, vet bills, food bills,
litter bills, etc., add up to figures that show little if anything is made off of our kittens.
It is because of this above that we are currently asking $450 - $500 for our pet kittens. We raise kittens
as a labor of love, not as a profit making venture. It defnitely takes a love for this to go to the extremes that we do to
produce the healthiest kittens that we possibly can.
We do a contract and ask for a deposit of half of asking price.
When can I take home my kitten? Each
kitten gets a vet check, wormed (we use Safe-Guard wormer (fenbendazole), and shots relevant
for their age before leaving for their new home at around 10 weeks of age.
When can I register my kitten? When
your kitten has been altered by your vet, please email or send a copy of your bill or a note from your vet stating that the
kitten has been spayed or neutered. Once we get this paperwork, we will send you a slip to fill out. You will need to send
this slip with a one-time fee to register your kitten. It is extremely important for you to register your kitten
or it will never be listed under the parents as an offspring. I cannot impress upon any Sullivan's Cattery kitten
buyer the importance of doing this!
Will my kitten get along with other cats and pets? Our
kittens are handled everyday by us, and so are very balanced and socialized by the time they leave our cattery. And of course,
they also get to socialize with our other Sullivan's Cattery kitties so they are very well-adjusted with other cats
as well.
What kind of litter should we use? Sullivan's
Cattery kittens are used to scoopable litter. We get our litter from Mills Fleet Farm, but anywhere have wonderful
litters.
What about declawing my kitten? I don't want my furniture
to be scratched. Sullivan's Cattery kittens are NEVER declawed.
Did you know that declawing doesn't mean that the nails are removed? Rather, the END DIGIT
of EACH TOE is CUT OFF! Can you imagine having the end digit of
each of your fingers cut off just so you don't scratch a piece of furniture?!
What kind of food should I feed my kitten? We
feed our cats "Sprout Ultra 32 High Performance Dry Cat Food" fed freely with water available at all times. It can be
purchased at Mills Fleet Farm. This is an all life stage food too.
What should we do with our kitten when we take it home? When
you get a Sullivan's Cattery kitten, please do not put them immediately with your other animals. New kittens
need at least a week to get used to a whole new environment. Best place for them is in a bedroom where they can get used to
a small area, and sleep with someone at night. Never put them in a room by themselves at night where they get no human contact.
Sullivan's Cattery kittens are litter trained by 5 weeks of age, so they don't have to be kept in a bathroom.
Should I get one of those kitty condos/scratching posts? Absolutely! As
kittens, our kittens are trained by their moms to scratch on small cat trees that are put in the rooms they spend their first 10
weeks in. If you are able to, get your new kitten a nice cat tree. It will be their furniture to scratch on and climb
in.
When can I come over and visit my Sullivan's Cattery kitten? To
keep our cats and kittens healthy, we do not allow visitation. The protocol we use is what works in our cattery and keeps
our kittens and cats the healthiest.
We do send photos to kitten buyers on request. And this has worked for all our kitten buyers.
I'd like to see what the kittens and cats look like, can I come over and
visit? There are Cat Shows available, and some wonderful books on kittens and
cats that will give anyone a great perspective on the breeds and also the internet.
Contacting Sullivan's Cattery! Because of
a hectic schedule, it is not possible for me to always get back to you immediately, or send photos immediately on request.
Please be patient. Reminders are always welcome if you don't hear from me immediately. Email is usually the fastest way for
contacting me.
